Chung-Mu-Ro : “Hollywood” of Korea

Posted in Korea 2009-2010 by Jini on July 18, 2010

충무로  =  Hollywood

Well,

not really.

Because, Korean film industry is nowhere as big as Hollywood,  and this area is becoming less and less THE town for filmmakers. It’s becoming rather scattered – studios and offices opening up in Gang-Nam (bougie, riche area) . But I guess it’s the historical neighborhood where once the passion for cinema was ignited and shared amongst those cineastes, moviebuffs, whatever you want to call them.

This is the metro station of Chung-Mu-Ro.  I loved how they made it special and had rows of photos from past “Blue Dragon Award” Ceremonies.  (equivalent to the Academy Awards)

Korean metros are well-worthy tour by itself.  I’ll be sure to share some that are worth noting.
